@dadoody Of COURSE they're modern. It used to be that when the japanese were bored, they'd kill each other just to break the monotony of scratching a living out of a rice paddy. More recently, they'd graduated to stuff like kicking Russia's ass, or burning half of china. But such things are not acceptable in the modern world, so they found a more constructive outlet for their energy.

It's a totally different sport.I've seen a documentary of the Chinese Olympics archer visiting her hometown while they were having a traditional archer-competition.After that they switched for the lulz.She failed at using their bow and they failed pathetically using hers.But it was funny.

The competitions around there may use some of these bows. Y'know, all the pro archers use a customized bow, with special arrows and all that. It will be cool if them use some wooden bows with normal wooden arrows. =)
